Melissa was first introduced to massage after many years of playing sports, specifically volleyball. High intensity sports can leave you feeling aches and pains despite not having an injury. She knew of the physical benefits massage offered but quickly learned of the mental benefits as well. Like most, Melissa deals with high levels of anxiety every day. Through massage and yoga, Melissa was able to find a more organic way of handling her anxiety.
After working multiple stressful jobs that she did not enjoy, Melissa made the decision to attend massage therapy school. Knowing what massage had done for her personally, she wanted to share that healing with those around her. Melissa graduated from The Healing Arts Center in October 2015. Not long after, she was trained in Thai Yoga Massage. She loves practicing Thai Yoga with clients and seeing improvements after each session. Her favorite part of Thai Yoga, is being able to teach clients stretches and movements they can do at home in between appointments.
Melissa at Sole Shine
When she learned of Sole Shine, she knew immediately of the great fit. Because she likes to see people living their best life, her mission lined up with Sole Shine’s mission. The collaborative nature of working in groups allows her to learn and grow herself while teaching and helping others reach their goal. She plans to learn FasciAshi with Sara and further grow her barefoot massage technique.
Outside of Massage Therapy
Melissa stays mentally and physically healthy by enjoying the great outdoors. She spends as many weekends as she can camping and hiking with her future husband. And when she is at home, she can usually be found working on different art projects or playing with her two beautiful fur balls, Esther and Sheldon.
